The only thing I love more than the Lord of the Rings trilogy is its score. I love it so much that I refuse to put it in my iTunes library, because every time I listen to it, I get a bit… emotional. Couldn’t even stop myself from welling up a few moments ago when I went to re-listen to this piece before uploading it. Yeah, yeah, point and laugh all you want, but few things make me overcome with emotion more quickly than a flawless movie score. Shore’s “Concerning Hobbits” matchlessly captures the very essence of the Shire and the folks that live there: gentle, tranquil, and soothingly familiar. And every time I hear it, whether it’s just a few bars or the entire song, it kind of makes me feel like I’m home too.
